History of Buddha Purnima/ or Veshakh Day
Buddha Purnima is celebrated widely all over the world according to the birth date of Gautam Buddha. The real name of Gautam Buddha is Siddhartha Gautama. He was born as a price in a royal family. He was the prince of the Kingdom of the Sakya Dynasty at the foot of the Himalayas.
The Buddhist believe that Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment at the age of 35 under the Bodhi Tree in Bodhgaya. And it was the same full moon day of Vaishak. But there is a contradiction among the people of different regions all over the world. The people of North India believe that Gautam Buddha is the 9th incarnation and Lord Krishna as the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. In South India, Buddha is not considered as the avatar of Vishnu. However, the Buddhist doesn’t believe Gautam Buddha as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
