History of Valentine Day
It was an incident of A.D. 270. At that time Rome was one of the strongest states in the world. The emperor of Rome was Claudius II Gothicus. He was a depressor and the hateful king of that time.
One day he started a survey on the married and u married men. In the survey he found, in married men were stronger than the married men. Then he ordered all the unmarried men to get married.
It was an unfair rule and people couldn’t agree with it. But as the king’s order, they had to obey. On that time there was a priest named Saint Valentine. Valentine was brave and didn’t obey the rule. He inspired unmarried boys and made many marriages of unmarried men.
The news went to Claudius and Claudius ordered to arrest the priest. The priest was prisoned on a jail and the jailer liked the priest activities. One-day the jailer asked the priest to pray for his daughter. The daughter of jailer was blind. The priest prayed for her daughter and her daughter became well.
When the daughter got her sight back she came to the jail to meet Valentine. They fall in love and wanted to marry each other. Claudius got the news and forbade Valentine to marry. Valentine disagreed with Claudius and sentenced Valentine to death. Saint Valentine was hung on 14 February 269 AD.
From that year people observe 14 February as Valentine’s day or the day of romance.
